Okay, we all do it once in awhile. You know when you are in a rush or the kids want to visit the playground. We all end up going to fast food joints every now and then no matter how hard we try to avoid it. Here are 5 foods to avoid when you do visit.

Seven Ways to Lower Cholesterol

1. Eat a bowl of oatmeal every morning. Doing this for 8 weeks straight can reduce cholesterol by as much as 10%.

2. Eat soy for lunch. Long thought to have cholesterol-lowering effects, soy is good and cheap, and can help lower cholesterol by 20%.

3. Eat garlic for dinner.

4. Eat half an onion a day. Your co-workers might not like it, but many studies have shown that onion as well as garlic help reduces cholesterol.

5. Use olive oil.

6. Eat an apple a day.

7. Eat fish with omega-3 acids. Omega-3 fatty acids are noted for their triglyceride-lowering effect, but they also help the heart in other ways such as reducing blood pressure and the risk of blood clots.
